Definitely a highlight of this past week was to get to meet with the US Embassy for a debriefing and also the head of the Cultural Affairs here in Jordan. The debriefing contained important information about safety, and general life while living in Jordan. The people from the US Embassy were our version of what we would call secret service... They were incredibly cool. We also got to hear from Tobias, who is the head the American of Cultural Affairs in Jordan. He informed us about his job, the events he hosts, and the importance we played as representation of the US government. I loved hearing about his life, the seven languages he knows, and all the tours he has been on with the Foreign Service. This marked an important moment in my life which I like to call a "professional crush" because I ABSOLUTELY wanted his life an job and just to BE him. He was so cool and we all got to have little chats with him. He told us about his travels, his work, and how absolutely difficult the foreign service test is (5% pass rate)... Immediately when I got back to the apartments I took the foreign service quiz on the Department of State website to see which sector of the foreign service fits me, turns out its public diplomacy, and then political. Tobias and the other foreign service officers were such an inspiration and I cannot wait until we can go visit the US Embassy.
