The past week has been unbelievably busy. I have been trying to sit down every once in awhile to start blogging but I find myself running off to something else ten minutes later. Sorry I've been pretty MIA all week. Anyways, last weekend we got to see some archeological sites in Amman like the Citadel. No one was at the Citadel because of Ramadan so we got the ruins to ourselves. It was amazing to be on this literal mound of history overlooking modern day Amman. In the same day we went to the Royal Automobile Museum which held loads of old cars belonging to the royal family. That night we went to a restaurant called Avocado to have burgers and some of the best shakes I've ever had. We also went to Rainbow Street which I LOVED. I left repeating "I want to live here" again and again. Rainbow Street is in the first circle of Amman and is extremely modern and chic; it is filled with young people and cute cafes. My favorite part was Souk Jara which had was a very colorful little street off of Rainbow Street which had vendors with loads of souvenirs. I ended up getting ANOTHER smoothie because they are SO good in Jordan. Also... Bum bum bum. Last weekend we went to the Dead Sea. Definitely top on the list of July 4ths. For me, it is pretty funny how exactly 52 weeks before I was on the other side of the Dead Sea covering myself in mud. It was a weird deja vu. I absolutely LOVE the Dead Sea. The salt stings SO much to get into your eyes but it is so so cool to get to literally float in a body of water. It is pretty close to impossible to keep your feet stuck to the bottom. After we got salted-out, we all headed up to the hotel pool and played one of the most intense keep away/water polo games ever. I loved it. And yes, we were those loud Americans. Although it was the Fourth of July so we let it slide (not like we were screaming USA USA USA). Definitely a great day, beautiful weather, and I absolutely love the Dead Sea. It was so cool to get to get covered in mud and look across into Palestine like I did to Jordan last summer and wondered what it was like over here. That pretty much wrapped up a great weekend and it was back to some serious arabic study for the next week.
